Fullgreen Riced Veggies
All Fullgreen's low-carb products are preservative-free. The airtight packaging of our Riced vegetables allows us to seal in the freshness of each product for up to 18 months without the need for refrigeration.
All Fullgreen’s products are low calorie, low carb & vegetable-based, making them compatible with most low carb diets, including: Slimming World, Weight Watchers (WW), Paleo, Primal and Atkins diets. Whichever diet you choose, we recommend a balanced approach to eating with plenty of vegetables.
Regular cauliflowers can have a distinct smell when cooked and approximately 25% of the population are more sensitive to this than others. These people will distinguish a peppery, sulfurous smell. Fullgreen’s Riced Cauliflower gives off less of these sulfurous notes than raw riced cauliflower and we don’t think it smells bad at all!
Unlike homemade or 'fresh' store-bought cauliflower rice, Fullgreen’s Riced Cauliflower doesn’t go bad after just a few days. Even though Riced Cauliflower contains no additives or preservatives, it will last up to 18 months, without refrigeration – providing its airtight pouch remains unopened.
Riced cauliflower is easy to make though the process can be time consuming and it also requires a bit of cleaning-up. Simply chop a head of raw cauliflower into chunks and pulse it in a food processor. Alternatively, you can shred the cauliflower into rice by hand. The downside of making cauli rice at home is that the grain-size tends to be uneven and the process can be messy (you'll probably find bits of cauliflower in every corner of your kitchen for weeks after making it). So, if you haven’t the time, or inclination to make cauliflower rice from scratch, we recommend you buy Fullgreen’s Riced Cauliflower. It has the same benefits as homemade cauliflower rice – without the mess or fuss.
Fullgreen’s Riced Broccoli with Cauliflower is a ‘rice alternative’. It contains nothing but finely chopped broccoli and cauliflower. There are no additives, preservatives or sodium – in fact there’s absolutely nothing but veg. And there’s definitely no rice in any of our 'riced vegetables'.
We can assure you that every pouch of our Riced Cauliflower & Broccoli is made up of 60% Broccoli (Or 40% Broccoli depending on UK or US). The reason it is not very green is that we use the stem of the broccoli and not the floret. The Broccoli stem is naturally lighter in colour, and our natural cooking process may lighten the colour a little bit more. We use the stem because it has more fiber and gives you a firmer and more grain-like texture and structure. Once this is diced into small pieces it blends in with the cauliflower. As for the flavor, the broccoli should be natural flavor and not overpowering and the overall flavor should be a blend of cauliflower and broccoli.
25% of the population find the taste of cauliflower bitter and peppery. If this sounds like you, you probably won’t enjoy Broccoli Rice. However, if you’re trying to cut down on carbs - or simply looking for an alternative to rice - maybe you should try Riced Sweet Potato
There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with white rice – or any carbohydrates. Carbohydrates provide your body with energy. The problem is, most of us eat way too many carbs and exercise too little. High carb diets and sedentary lifestyles are increasingly linked to obesity and illnesses like Type 2 Diabetes. Riced Broccoli is lower in calories and has up to 89% fewer carbohydrates than rice – making it a great low-carb alternative.
Calcium Chloride is a firming agent that can be sourced from limestone or from brine. It is used to keep vegetables from becoming soft when they're cooked. We use a very, very small amount of Calcium Chloride to help the individual grains in our Riced Sweet Potato from turning into mash when we steam them in the pouch. We assure you Calcium Chloride is entirely safe. If it wasn’t, we simply wouldn’t use it.
When we were perfecting our Riced Sweet Potato we asked customers, “Should we remove the skin from our sweet potatoes or keep it on?”. The overwhelming response was that it should be kept - as a valuable source of potassium and fiber. So that’s what those brown bits are.
All vegetables are carbohydrates but some are lower in carbs than others. Veggies that release their natural sugars more slowly into the bloodstream are called 'slow-release' carbohydrates. You may also know them as ‘Low GI’. Sweet potatoes are a great example of this and, because we keep their skin on, they're also high in fiber. This means our Riced Sweet Potato keeps you fuller longer, and is ideal if you're on a low carb diet.
